Minimally invasive surgery is a modern surgical technique that involves making small incisions instead of large ones. Dr. Yergler’s minimally invasive quad-sparing approach to knees cuts from the side and does not cut muscle, which reduces scarring, preserves muscle, and speeds up recovery. This approach leads to shorter hospital stays and improved outcomes with reduced complications. In short, patients recover faster, experience less pain, and need fewer medications.
I am the only surgeon in the region who is fellowship-trained in minimally invasive surgery for both hip and knee replacements.

The Benefits of Minimally Invasive Surgery
I have performed more knee replacements with Persona IQ® The Smart Knee® than any other surgeon in the country.
Persona IQ® is the next step in orthopedic innovation, redefining personalized knee care by combining Persona, the world’s leading knee system, with a smart stem extension.
Before surgery, I use the natural structure of your knee as a blueprint to ensure that your knee implant is tailored to your unique anatomy. After surgery, by combining in-person consultations with continuous knee data collection, my team and I can provide you with a personalized and well-informed recovery experience. With this view of your knee’s functionality, your care team can better manage your progress, leading to a more informed and effective process.
Some patients choose not to use a smart knee and instead opt for a more traditional implant. After discussing your options, the choice will be up to you.
The Zimmer Biomet mymobility® app provides you with the information you need to prepare for and recover from surgery. The mymobility app works with a smart watch or phone and gives you constant connection to your care team, so you’ll receive helpful reminders, progress reports, and support that’s unique to you. Using this app may result in fewer follow-up appointments. It’s a personalized way to keep you moving and keep you connected like never before.
When you have surgery, your body’s nutritional needs are elevated. Just like an athlete getting ready for a race, surgery is a big deal for your body, and it needs some preparation. If you don’t give your body the right nutrition, you may have a poor recovery.
ENROUTE is a 4-week nutrition program, which I highly recommend to my patients, to help optimize your body for surgery. It contains specialized formulas taken twice daily to help you prepare better for the surgery and recover faster. You can buy the program by clicking here. You can also order over the phone by calling 1-800-619-0783 or email info@getenroute.com to learn more.
I am specially trained to use ROSA® robotic technology to personalize total knee replacement, providing a solution that works for you and your unique anatomy.
ROSA is a robotic surgical assistant designed to help me tailor the placement of your knee implant just for you. The surgical procedure using the ROSA robot is similar to conventional joint replacement but with a robotic assistant.
It’s important to understand that the robot does not operate on its own. I am always in the operating room the entire time and I personally make all of the decisions throughout your surgery.
